I've used the e-hallpass system. It was helpful for tracking patterns, and because it was easy to forget during a 100-minute class who was out. Requests came to me, the teacher, and I approved them. There was a limit of 5 (?) kids per restroom - if there were 5 passes to the same restroom at the same time, it would not allow any more requests until kids returned.
