It is more peaceful in terms of not getting harassed so much unless it’s a drunk on his way home, a group of teens out to prove something, a racist on public transportation. Or an off the cuff remark made - as if in passing - to a coworker. Or to oneself. I’ve found the judgment to be very much present but it shows up differently. Sadly no country is exempt from being judged. It just shows up in different ways. And if it’s different to what we grew up with, it can seem better. Or not there.
