Does a bicycle seat ever feel comfortable? I’ve even got a cushion seat cover and it still sucks

As others have said, it’s about how you sit on the bike, including matching the shape of your anatomy and the design of the saddle. I used to have severe numbness after long rides until i found a saddle that better suited me. A local shop might be able to help you find a solution

Do not use covers. They simply hide that your sucks. The true test is how your seat flex’s in the middle. Good seats start at $75. Using your thumb to test how soft a seat is, is not useful. Your body weighs much more and puts much more pressure on your seat than your “test” thumb. The best seats (leather brooks saddles) have zero cushion, but they flex like a hammock in the middle. Also remember the more time spent in the saddle the more comfortable that saddle will be - if it’s a good one!

Get your sit bones measured, then get an appropriately sized saddle. Next step, padded bike shorts. Bike shorts are worn against your skin, meaning no underwear. Chamois cream is a pretty good idea too. Your local bike shop can help you out. As one long time cyclist once told me. Your seat is in your shorts, the saddle just holds you up.

There's an article in Bicycle magazine written by women about women and saddle fit. I found a shorter nose on the saddle to be huge help. Most people want to say our sit bones BUT really the pressure on the lady bits is the issue. Get some great cycling shorts, and get rid of the cover as well.

Take the cover off. Put your ass on the seat and ride daily for a half hour a day. After a month your sit bones will adjust and you won’t be sore anymore. The solution is not a different seat or more padding. The solution is to get your body used to it. There is no shortcut. It’s going to hurt for a few weeks. Eventually you won’t be uncomfortable. But it takes time. Start riding.

The most comfortable seats I have are smallest and hardest, it more about right fit and proper mechanics. Very little of your weight should rest on your seat.
