Is software just super-inefficient today? We are using ghastly amounts of clock speed, cores, memory, SSD space, and energy, and yet even the UIs of Macs and PCs - even on some pretty mundane Office-type stuff - are no snapper than they were 30 years ago. Or just as sluggish. TechThreads -->

Tech companies only do what makes money and can be marketed, not what’s necessarily the best solution. That means glitzy gimmicks not better efficiency (unless said efficientct allows for more gimmicks!) no matter the cost.
16 小時內	Sam Pollock pollock8288	Honestly every single machine I have here is super quick with it's ui. Be it my ryzen gaming and development PC or my two MacBook pros, m1 and Intel. I am 47 and remember the old 68000 chips. Software dev so live and breathe computers. Not sure why you're ui isn't snappy. I think people forget what it was like having magnetic disks and single cores with single threaded apps. My PC boots to windows in about 8 seconds from cold.
