I’d say that science fiction overlaps with fantasy but not that they are the same genre. Something like Star Wars is definitely in the Science Fiction/Fantasy realm, but say the Expanse is definitely just Science Fiction.

There's a lot of crossover, but in broad strokes, fantasy is about the implications of where we come from, while science fiction is about the implications of where we're going.
