Could someone explain like I'm 5, why the UK government won't or can't apologise for Britain's role in the slave trade? I'm not trying to raise a political point at all, and I understand that giving £200Bn isn't going to happen anyway, but what’s the harm in formally apologising? Or is it far more complex than that?
