I think TPTB should have anticipated the fan reaction to the poster. You can’t have an iconic Broadway show with an iconic poster and not replicate it exactly. If Cynthia wanted to do something different, they could have done a series of shots - one an exact replica of the Broadway poster and the one they released. Best of both worlds and everyone would have been happy.

I’m not struggling. It’s flipping ridiculous. The MOST offensive thing she’s EVER seen? Really? Imagine living such a sheltered life that a fan edit is the most offensive thing you’ve ever been exposed to in your entire life.

I’m a woman of color, I get the struggle! But I feel like it’s hard because us wicked fans have such a deep rooted lore that im not sure she’s aware of. It goes so far back that it’s hard to keep up with which I understand. Wicked is so dear to the fans and I think the bdway fans are trying to make the 2 worlds collide but she’s taking it as disrespect because she’s not aware of the inside jokes and community.

No. Her feelings are just those. HER feelings. I’m not a POC and will never 100% understand the struggle but I also 100% believe that her reaction was valid. To shadow/cover her eyes and change the color of her lips is offensive. Yet another person saying “this black woman is too much/not enough/wrong”. She is entitled to feel whatever she feels about it and is entitled to voice that opinion.

I feel like it's bc for a lot of us it's just about that poster but, for her, there's probably been a lot more comments before that and this was just what tipped her over- so while it seems out of the blue, I feel like there is a little bit more behind it... i'm still struggling a bit with it tbh but I'm trying to get where she's coming from
