I agree that it really should not be considered for an apartment lease. But i will technically disagree with you because i believe its a form of credit. As soon as the lease is signed, there's a balance due for 12 months.

Specially, if you’re not making a hoe go up. Nor makes my rent payments go down for having good credit. Just out here wasting ink, paper and time.

Especially since paying rent on time isn't reported on that credit score. Same with utilities. If they counted, I'd probably have a wonderful credit score. As a disabled (aka low income) person who had her identity stolen, it's ridiculous how inaccessible good credit can be even though it's somehow the most important factor in obtaining housing. The system is designed to cater to the wealthy

Your landlord deserves to know if you are a good risk.

I agree with this if it is for government housing. But for private housing, no. Credit scores should be used in conjunction with rental history, but not as automatic rejection, i.e. you must have a 680 credit to rent or you will be disqualified, even though you have excellent rental history and meet the 3x the rent requirement .

It most definitely should. As a landlord myself, I’ve evicted folks with bad credit, and never with good credit.
