I’m learning that “yacht rock” like any sub-genre has different definitions depending on who you talk to. All I know is there’s a sweet spot from about 1977 to 1984 (give or take) with some epic jazz, soul, and funk infused smooth rock that I absolutely love. Think Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross, Orleans. Yes, it’s schmaltzy. That’s part of the appeal. What’s your concept of yacht rock and who are some of your favorite artists or songs?
