It's never been hyperbolic, they've always done it. As soon as the partition was granted they started slaughtering and the British soldiers watched them roll barrells of explosives down hills into Palestinian villages. There was no "let's make sure there's no babies first". They've maintained this since and their massacres started in the 1920s.
