I've kept in touch with Mr. Hughes, my high school history teacher, for over 40 years. A few weeks ago, I had a speaking engagement in the town where I graduated high school, and Mr. Hughes was in attendance. He sent me this email today. I'm not crying, you're crying. 😭 Side note: "Slapstick" is an essay I read at the event. "Buttermilk" is another essay which I was asked to read but couldn't because of length.
