How I explain the power of NYC to people not from the area: 1. New York has one NFL team, it's the Buffalo Bills. No one calls them a "New York team." 2. The two NFL teams CALLED "New York" are the Giants and the Jets who play in New Jersey. 3. New Jersey's official NFL teams are... well, they don't exist since they're both called "New York" despite playing in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
