Millennial peeps: are we ready to admit the raunch-comedy movies of the mid-2000s (American Pie, Superbad, etc.) were actually racist and homophonic and misogynistic and not that funny at all?

I did long ago; most weren’t funny either. Talledega nights is an exception I make

I didn’t realize I had somehow only seen the television edited version of White Chicks as a teenager and watching the uncut version as an adult had its glaring “oh no” moments. Still got some laughs, but also a fair share of cringes.

I like my white chicks and eurotrip thank you. They will not fly by today’s standards, however, so won’t most comedies over time. Take it for what it is and put into context what timeframe it was made. Also sometimes it’s just good to laugh at ourselves as a society. Comedies currently…watch again in 20 years. See where it ends up. Societal norms always change. Hell even the original mean girls is getting hate for being outdated….well it is 20 years old people.

The function of Hollywood is to teach stereotypes, for the elites to brag about their psychopathy (however thinly veiled), and to normalize hypersexualization. Once that becomes clear it’s hard to watch any mainstream media.

people in comments saying comedy is dead… this wasn’t ever funny. comedy is alive and well for people who have a real sense of humor and don’t fall back on dirty jokes that contain homophobic and misogynistic undertones
