A number of years ago I posted on Facebook about how ACA/Obamacare was going to likely change my sons’s lives because there is no longer pre-existing conditions or lifetime caps on insurance policies. Turns out *I* will be the one needing those provisions. As most of my friends know, I battled breast cancer last year. My year of treatment including 4.5 months of chemotherapy, double mastectomy, heart & blood tests, body scans w/ 1 full year of immunotherapy was billed at somewhere around… 1/2 🧵

I was able to get him the best in-patient care. He was diagnosed as bipolar, medication and coping skils and 10 years later, he's married, a respected teacher and spreads the message of holding on. Life does get better. He's also now able to get his own insurance without fear of being denied for his "pre" existing condition

I'm very fortunate where I live it doesn't matter I have cancer right now I will still get the care I need until I no longer have beating heart but there's so many countries where that isn't the cas
