Question for artists: if a local business wanted to hang your art, for free, in their waiting room, would you do it?

As long as it was made known that the work was for sale, and they would direct enquiries directly to the artist. Why not?

Not all spaces are created equal for art to be exhibited. Artists beware by asking what they get aside from exposure (a space should elevate, invite, promote!!). Art is work. Honour that work as cakue added.

Possibly. If it’s a good fit. The work has to be presented well - have appropriate info avail in tags or signage because the staff likely wont do much to close a sale. The clientele must be your target market and there must be sufficient eyes and time available to look at your work. I have seen unconventional and unlikely spaces sell art, it can work.

No. Because they are trying to get something for nothing, and this is not a venue where people go to buy art. Sales will be minimal or non-existent.

Yes. I would also hang my details beside the painting. Your name, IG, other contact details.

No. I would do it and agree to a percentage of the sale going to the business, but if you give your work away then “free” is it’s worth. Every business would love to have free art but do they do business for free? Your work is just as much worthy of payment as theirs. 😊

Yes. With conditions. Specify the time of the loan and if you want to sell it provide the details on a neat label ( size, medium, price) and offer the business a commission. I suggest 20% if it is sold. Also have the option of changing it to another when the initial time on your first one expires. Just my op!

Im not a pro but either way, 1. if it was a small business that I wanted to support, yes 2. if it was profitable business, that can afford to pay and the painting is treated as they would treat any mass produced print from ikea, no 3. it would be placed at a good spot(=somewhere people expect to see actual, valuable art) with good exposure, I might do it for the provenance

Of course, as long as they agreed to pay for it, when my mate steals it. 😂
