If you can’t afford to tip, you can’t afford to eat out. Order takeout or cook at home. End of story. We’ve all been broke - but that hard working server is trying to put food on their own families’ tables, pay for college, get their dog the surgery it needs to keep living. When their section is full of people who decided they wanted to spend their last $50 on a meal out and not save enough for a 20% tip, they just lost their ability to pay rent, to go home for Christmas… be decent.
