If you live together, assuming you both contribute, in some cases yes. If it's obviously irresponsible, for example when you're struggling financially or planned other big, necessary expenses and you're buying useless shit I think it's valid to speak up. Other than that, no because, like you said, it's your money

No, it's not appropriate. In principle, I am not a supporter of the fact that there is allegedly some kind of "his" money. If we are a family, then all the money that lies in our house is family money. And as a member of this family, I can spend it at my discretion. The only thing I have to take care of is that there is enough left so that my man can spend something on his own.
