Needing insulin does not mean you have diabetes. It means your blood glucose is too high, which can happen for several reasons in the hospital. It’s harder to heal a wound if the glucose is elevated. And often a wound vac sponge replacement is done after a certain number of days, or maybe when the team wants to take a look at the incision. So I would not assume that it is infected unless you were told that.
