I don’t think it’s about being grateful. I’m pretty sure people are quite grateful with what they have. Sure there might be some who might boast or as you put it “arrogant” here and there but in general, no. Usually people in that salary bracket have been working for quite a while and are in their 30s and 40s with a couple of schooling kids and maybe some getting into college. So they are not “rich”. Thus commitments are higher. Not getting subsidies is pretty harsh.
