Sorry to hear that.. I started teaching my mother only talking about a child we know is autistic. Then, I started pointing out things in my childhood and questioning why I acted that way , or why at school certain things happened to me.. and she started understanding.. I asked questions about her and she was identifying herself as well. She’s very rigid cognitively but I was surprised how she understood everything.. it did take a while though.. but now she knows she’s on the spectrum too.
