genuinely, why the hell do we take passport photos of newborns sitting up if they can’t even hold themselves up yet. what difference does it make if we just put them down on a table and take the picture from above???

So for biometrics to work the phot needs to be taken in the same orientation that the face will be scanned at the border. With the increasing presence of automated biometrics scans, scanning from a prone position may not be possible
