I think whenever someone is overwhelmed or anxious about something, the last thing we should do is judge them. I wfh and when my kids are off from school it just gets very complicated and stressful trying to manage them and work EVEN with a babysitter. I adore my kids but most parents don't have enough support or childcare when school breaks happen so we end up being stretched too thin.

I like holidays. I get to sleep in a little later those days, lol. I am not a morning person but I make the sacrifice for my kid. I will say, there are days where I appreciate the break but I honestly don't mind if she's home 24/7.

I’m a SAHM. My youngest just turned 1 and my oldest is almost 5. I love having them both home, but it’s stressful. I feel overstimulated all the time. Especially with the lack of sleep. My oldest really needs the school time so she gets challenged in ways I can not provide. If she’s not at school she wants to be entertained for most of the time. And my youngest is clinging onto me all day. So I struggle dividing the attention, keeping them both happy, while also trying to do all the daily stuff.

When you are the default parent it can be overwhelming for 2 weeks of no “rest” from the kids. That “rest” is the time you do housework or do your gym sessions etc. that time doesn’t happen without school easily when the kids are younger. That’s without working. Add in a full time job, it gets harder. I work shifts. I try and do mostly nights in the holidays to save on childcare costs. It means that I can be tired and ratty. And I know that can happen.

Help ME understand why a lot of moms talk about preparing for something that they find difficult, and your reaction is condescending reduction that insinuates judgement and superiority?

At 4 on a workday I crave to pick up my kids and talk about our day or discuss animal crossing goals. I love holidays because I love being with MY kids. I'm a teacher and I feel like I spend more time with my students so I naturally crave more time to spend with my kiddos ☺

May be unpopular opinion and you are 💯 right but my kids are more demanding than I was when I was younger. It forced us to build connections with kids in the neighborhood and use our imagination. Like literally playing with a stick in the backyard and making a fun game out of it with my brother. Sometimes I feel like my kids look at me as the cruise director to constantly provide instant gratification. I do however remind myself to enjoy every second as it goes by in a flash

I’m going to have to say that’s it’s the constant need to have to entertain them every single second of the day. These new kids don’t know how to play outside. That’s where my mom got most of her breaks. All they want to do is sit in the house, and play video games all day. I play with them, and get creative, but at some point I get overstimulated. Then there’s competition amongst them so they’re competing for my attention. It gets crazy. 😩🥹

I thought I was outside the norm for thinking like this. I love spending 24/7 with my kids and I always say “I’m not ready to share my kids” when breaks are over.

We can enjoy the holidays and also find being the sole childcare providers for our children 24/7 for a week+ at a time difficult. Thanks.
