Unsecured debt expires after a period of time (very dependent on the state).

So the family of Evangelical nuts i met on a flight--- who thought the Rapture was imminent and were racking up credit card, upon their death, don't owe anything if their parents didn't have any assets?

When my father passed away in 2011, he still owed the state and my mother child support. I was 27. No one else gave me any hassle about his debt. I was his only child and he'd never married. CS really wanted me to pay them. I plainly explained that I wouldn't be and that if they had questions, here was the family lawyer's contact information.

I was added as co owner to my mother’s house after she died. Her husband was already on it as co owner. Now I find out he owes IRS lots of money and there is a lien on the house. If he dies, will I be responsible for his debt? Should I try (Can I remove) to get my name off the house at this point as I don’t want any part of it?

I have a revocable trust with my husband. The lawyer said it would become irrevocable if one of us dies. Question is will the 5 year wait have to start again when one of us dies?
