Curious what other parents think about siblings invited or not to birthday parties? I know every kid costs money to invite & playspots have limits on people, but when kids are little it’s such a hassle when siblings aren’t invited I get why people skip parties. We just got invited to “no sibling” party in the middle of the day. Apart from explaining to the sibling that he can’t go play too, I also need a spouse to care for him while I take his brother to the party. Basically whole day is lost 😞

I’m not trying to sound like a jerk but I don’t believe it’s the host’s responsibility to invite their kids, friends, siblings. I personally liked seeing my daughter spend time with just kids her own age too. She was five at her last birthday and I didn’t want a two year old at her party cause I knew it would turn into a show about the two year old. 🙂

5 小時內	Susan Jenkins suzanjf3	I have 3 kids we never let the kids go as siblings nor did any of the friends bring siblings. Frequently we did not have to stay at the party and if so we took the other 2 out nearby.

9 小時內	Maja B swagmaja611	When they were 4/ 6 up to 6/8 I would ask, a week at least before. If I got a no, I got a no, but would say “I can’t stay, hope that’s ok”. I wasn’t malicious, and I wasn’t going to force my child on someone else when they are paying per head. Now, at 9/11 sometimes both are invited, but if that’s not made clear - I wouldn’t even think of asking. Not on someone else to babysit my kids, and not on someone else to pay for the extra.

It’s parents like you who expect the parcipation awards just for turning up at school sports day too! Teach your kid that sometimes they can’t go to or get everything they expect, it will Instil resilience for later in life.
10 小時內	Jenny Francis jenni1484	This is why when my eldest was younger I always hired a hall for parties as then siblings could come but there are some places we book for parties that paying per head is only feesable for a set amount of kids. You should feel lucky when you’re other children get invited too but it’s not a must
