In the UK, once someone's had a full driving licence for 2 years they can take a learner out for driving lessons/experience. My then-husband got a provisional licence and I'd often drive somewhere quiet, park up, put on the L plates (learner badges), jump in the passenger seat and let him drive for a bit.
