Why is it so hard for me to make friends as an adult? I met this girl on Sunday. She was really nice and we clicked. Like really clicked. Or at least I thought we did. So we exchanged numbers and talked about how we should have a girls day: nails and lunch (her idea). I was so excited. I let a couple days pass before I text her. It’s been a couple days and she still hasn’t responded. Huh? Like, what was the point of all that?! Why be fake nice? This is why I keep to myself. Over it.

I struggled with making friends and maintaining them as far as I can remember when I started Kindergarten up to my senior year of high school and later on as an adult. Sometimes it has nothing to do with you or the interaction. Maybe she loved it and could really use more of your energy but just doesn't have the emotional capacity to commit to you. Who knows? Adult-friending is hard. We're not playing with Lil feelings out here. Keep praying about it.

I know it seems weird but there’s a whole group of people in this world that think it’s weird when platonic relationships are offended when they take days to text back. Some people need to recharge, especially those who operate off a social battery that drains easily.
