My boyfriend didn’t like America, despite never having visited. Last autumn, we went to Boston (long on my wish list) and he loved Boston. This year, we went to Chicago for the marathon. And he loved Chicago. Now - unprompted by me - he’s suggesting - along with our two US marathons for the Majors - a giant road trip across the States. I feel vindicated for what I said to him right at the start: it’s a whole continent and you’re going to love so much of it, mostly what’s not in the news.
