It should stick around for a long time given the capabilities. Future use cases + backwards compatibility are fairly well incorporated into the standard. My guess is the next major format for devices will be centered on wireless charging.

Tbf usb A hung around for a lonnnnng time. It’s been a while since companies packaged all in one charger cords they have been separated into cord/brick for a while now

Man the usb-c port on my phone is constantly getting full enough of lint to make the charger have a hard time making enough contact to charge and then I have to clean it out. The lightning port (whatever the one was called before USB C) is nice and open and doesn't hold onto lint in my experience
