I personally like crochet with more details, but I think a lot of crocheters just want to have something cute they can whip up multiples of and sell.

I think it’s actually more …. A lack of skill? This is coming from a place of understanding as I also design patterns but it can be HARD to get that kind of detail. It is easier to make simple shapes so lots of people just so that. I like small details but also like to be super creative and make my own idea of things so creatures that don’t exist thus the detail being up to the creator.
