Perimenopausal & diagnosed ADHD/CPTSD 2 years ago. What exactly is a desired outcome of taking ADHD medication? How is it supposed to get better? Strattera gave me heart palpitations. Adderall & Concerta made me so mean, irritable, no patience, & gave me horrible problems with teeth grinding. My family suffered my wrath. I am taking Qelbree & Intuniv but haven't really noticed improvement to my executive dysfunction, brain fog, or focus. In what ways should I be feeling better? ADHD Threads

I’m sorry none of the normal meds are working well for you 🫤 for real that sucks. Adderall made my OCD symptoms worse. Vyvanse made my skin terrible and my compulsive skin picking worse. But both did help my adhd symptoms. Basically just made me more motivated to start tasks and allowed me to sustain focus more on tasks I needed to be doing. Quieted down my brain a little. I’m on Concerta now. Works pretty well, minimal side effects. That being said perimenopause makes adhd so much worse. 1/2

Not sure if my comment will be helpful - but I have been on .2 mg of Clonodine for almost a month now and I definitely am starting to notice a difference in regard to the severity of my ADHD symptoms. I have chronic depression, CPTSD and ADHD and I take Effexor and Wellbutrin for the depression symptoms and lethargy. With those two medications alone, my ADHD symptoms were still very much present and inconveniencing my life. Well, they kind of still are lol but I the positive changes I have taken

ADHD with peri is a beast. I like to say menopause is a beast, but she can be tamed. And she can be tamed without hormones. One thing that drugs never address is our gut health, which is where 90% of your dopamine, serotonin are made. Settle down the gut and gut brain axis and it’s simple but amazing. helping SO many peeps…if you’d like some stories let me know I’ll share. Cuz we don’t have to bear thru it we can thrive thru it, im living proof..

when i started ritalin it felt amazing, and i felt like i was making progress in my life, but after a few weeks i realized that i was having some super intense emotions. i told my doc about it and he explained that my brain needed time to settle a bit after never having a stimulant before. i started taking a low dose medication for bipolar symptoms and after a few months stopped because i felt strangely numb. after all that, probably six months in total, i was talking to my doc again and…

…. and he explained to me that i probably wouldn’t notice the improvements on a daily level, but that i had successfully accomplished SO MUCH during the past few months that it was obvious the ritalin was working for me. i think you need to give it more time to really know that what you’re taking is working 😊

Hey hey! Made some changes and am giving Vraylar a try. So far, it has made a huge difference! I was able to deal with "the pile" that occupied the corner of my bedroom for the longest time. I see now what medication is supposed to help with! Thank you fornyour support.
