Taking medication when you could just eat less and move more is absolutely ridiculous and honestly just peak capitalism. It's like watching the fall of Rome

Medications don’t force you to change your habits and personal mindset. I can go to the gym twice per week to work with a personal trainer and establish good habits for life, change my diet and get stronger/more fit OR I can spend the same amount of money on a pill to do the work for me, never change my bad habits and gain the weight back if I stop taking the meds. For most people, the mindset is to do what is easy and quick rather than do what requires effort long term.
