I (Mexican-Mayan Indigenous) was invited to AfroPunk in NYC by a black man, I turned down the invitation and told him it’s ONE day, ONE event that was created for the diaspora and I will not make anyone feel a certain way by my presence. He thought my thinking was wrong and stupid- he took another Latina instead.
