I won’t pretend to know the whole answer, but I do know that that a nervous system needs certain safety cues & attachment needs met in order to maintain a ventral vagal parasympathetic state (which has the most blood flow to the front of the brain, etc.) So I’m guessing those baselines aren’t being met. Are they allowed to move their bodies enough (restriction can cue threat signals)? Do they *actually* feel secure when around their guardians? Stuff like that.
