For those jumping on the photographer for the caption, it is common for someone other than the photographer to write a caption for a stock wire photo. That's because the context of the photo being taken is different than the purpose for using it later.

It:s a clause away from being accurate. It should have included, "and the ways Garr's interpretation of her characters always provided a 'grounding' of understanding for their flaws."
