The kei truck is bad, but they let the emissions nightmare that was the Hummer H1 on the road. The only reason American trucks are so big is so that car companies didn't have to deal with the emissions and fuel consumption standards. If car companies just stayed within those parameters we wouldn't have huge human crushing trucks on the roads all the time we'd have the same trucks we started with back in the 60s.
