Sam Shepard and Gary Sinise on the street in Chicago. Gary was very polite, Sam was his stoic quiet self. John Fogerty at an Atlanta hotel - very gracious. Peter Buck (REM) - an Atlanta cinema. Also very gracious. (I always do my best to be polite and brief when meeting celebs. A quick “thank you for your work/the inspiration “ and I move on.)

I met Gene Hackman in the lobby of a hotel I was in because I couldn't afford to see a Broadway matinee with friends. I really wanted his autograph, but all I had was my college's fall class catalog. For years, I had an Anne Arundel Community College Fall 1992 class schedule signed by Gene Hackman. He was tired & just wanted a room to sleep in for a few hours, but he was generous with his time & attention to a random college theatre major who was fanboying out over meeting him.

-Neil Patrick Harris: sitting next to him about to watch a parade at a theme park. Didn’t realize it was him, asked a friendly, “have you seen this show?” He scowled, and snapped “No”. Completely ruined any appreciations for me about him -Vince Vaughn: I was working in a coffee shop. Came in, ordered a coffee, asked me if there was a code for the bathroom. Neutral, nice guy. In and out. -Nicholas Hoult: On a train ride with my family. He sat down across from me. Seemed shy and polite
