My dog stole two pieces of chocolate cheesecake off the counter tonight… I’m now panicking that we have a huge vet bill to come… he’s 90lb… am I worried for no reason?

He will likely be fine and have the poops and an upset stomach especially at 90lbs. My 70lb bully ate half a jumbo Toblerone bar last Xmas, she had the runs that was it. Also, dark chocolate is the more toxic type. Obviously if you see any signs of distress go to your nearest emergency vet.

Chocolate toxicity varies on the size of your dog. That said, my mom gave her mini poodle a Halloween sized Snickers bar every day for doggie dessert and that dog lived to be 20

Our 150 lb dog ate an entire box of chocolates and was fine. Did some zoomies and then chilled out.

My first dog ate an entire bag of Hershey kisses including the wrappers. He was a 20 lb cocker spaniel and lived to age 18.

Is it dark or milk and how big is the dog?

It can be deadly. It really is just a crap shoot. I had a dog eat a chocolate Easter bunny once and all that happened is he shat it out, ugly. Another dog ate a Hershey bar out of my backpack, nothing happened. I’d keep an eye on them and know where your emergency vet is if you have to run. But don’t panic.

Don’t worry. My 45 pound German shep ate a family size bag of m&ms and was completely normal. lol they have to eat an absurd amount to get truly sick

He’ll be fine. May have some diarrhea, but he’ll be fine. My dog ate 30 hersheys kisses with the wrappers and was fine. It’s cocoa that’s toxic, not chocolate and chocolate cheesecake is mostly cream anyways, very little actual cocoa. Watch for lethargy, vomiting/diarrhea. - a vet med employee
