Dunno who these a-holes are, but you’re absolutely right. 10- 15 years ago there used to be tons of really great detailed, concise explainers in text form on actual webpages for how to do different technical/mechanical things. Now most of those resources seem to have vanished & MAYBE you can find some YouTube videos of varied quality that cover those topics. I wouldn’t mind the video tutorials existing if the text guides also still existed, but it seems like none of that is out there anymore.
