Michelle Yeoh as Madam Morrible is such perfect, inspired casting not only because of her sheer command but also because in the racial context of this particular imagining, it makes absolute sense that a light skinned Asian woman would manipulate & exploit a WOC for power. There’s SO much internalized colonialism & anti-Blackness at play for Asian women who choose the establishment. Wicked

一天內	Kinly charlottecross112	Although I think your theory about Michelle Yeoh’s casting might be a bit of a stretch and the casting team probably didn’t consider it in the way you suggest, I do agree that internalized colonialism and anti-Blackness within the Asian community—especially East Asian communities—are very real issues. As an East Asian person myself, I hate to admit it, but I’m still working on unlearning these biases, and it’s something I feel deeply ashamed of.
