I found this bird mixed in with a group of Dowitchers in the South Texas coast near Galveston on 9/22/04. I can’t decide if it’s a Long-billed or Short-billed Dowitcher, but the dark plumage isn’t consistent with either. You can see the wing shadow on top of the head, and it’s definitely darker than the balance of the head and neck so I’m pretty sure it isn’t shadow. Any thoughts? Sony A1 and 600f4.
