One of the main pieces of “music marketing advice” I see lately is to try to make your music sound more similar to other artists so you can be algorithmically placed on similar playlists or target similar audiences in ads. Gotta be honest, it’s a pretty sad state of music today if artists are trying to change and adapt their unique artistic output to be more like other already existing sounds, we are slowly losing individualism in music and a platform to hear or discover it.
