same thing happened with contemporary romance years ago, and it was mind-boggling and infuriating that publishing ignored a huge amount of readers who LOVE and WANTED a subgenre. Lots went indie back then too.

Weren't the main publishers (Avon, Harper...) printing new on demand at Amazon? That would eliminate big back stock investment, right? So what are their reasons? Point me somewhere if this has already been thoroughly discussed.
