I think context matters here. If you’re out of town in LA or whatever, no one is gonna know what Matteson, IL is, but if you say the ChicagoLand area. They have a sense of where you’re from. It’s still key to say the area so they know, but if I’m here in the area, I’ll definitely tell people I where I live now and was raise in Zion, IL.

I live in the far south suburbs of Chicago. No one would recognize the town I live in unless they are from the area.
