I think you are wrong. Our superstitions are part of our cognitive setup as a species. That's why human religions and superstitions are so strikingly similar.

Philosophical systems would develop in the same way. Stoicism and Zen Buddhism developed independently and yet they are pretty similar in message. Perheaps monotheism and moral aspects of religion would develop the same way after being preached by a prophet. Only the lore would be different.

Let's assume for a moment that there is a god. An omniscient being that is the creator. This being created pain and suffering, children starving, war and pestilence. I for one, want no part of any god that does that. That god is unworthy of worship.

You have a simplistic view, that obscures the real issue. It isn't that religious people don't like facts, or logic. The actual dispute is between: a) It's a fact, we've seen it happen. vs b) It's a fact, because our book says so. Good guy, who learns from the book without questioning it. Bad guy, who doubts the book. Hero, who trusts the book in spite of a massive proof to the contrary. Teach a) religion, and they reject it again. Teach b) science, and they corrupt it into a new religion.

Your premise is flawed because multiple religions that had no contact with each other and were separated by thousands of years have come to the same conclusions about the nature of reality though they use different verbiage to explain. Your premise is only accurate if you exclusively consider Christianity and its denominations.

Nonsense. So if we destroyed all historical evidence of something, the fact that we wouldn’t be able to discover it or learn about it means it’s not factual?

If you destroy every religion, worship places, burn every religious book down to the last one, years later only one religion will prevail coz millions of people have already memorized it word by word, page by page, guess who?
