When I said ‘being a landlord is inherently exploitative’ I was *of course* not talking about you / your parents / your partner. You’re the good ones— when you make money from the privilege of owning property you don’t live in, you do it ✨ethically✨. It’s horrible when people don’t appreciate the hard work of salt-of-the-earth, breadline landlords 😤 The fact that you make money by exploiting poorer people’s need for accommodation is just a reflection of your connection with the common man 💪

Don’t get the hate for private landlords. The other choice is massive housing associations. It’s better to have your landlord’s mobile number, than a hotline where a minimum wage worker with no personal responsibility or interest in your wellbeing will ‘file your complaint’ for someone to action.

‘Buy your own property’— I’d love to, but prices are being driven up by greedy people buying second homes and letting renters pay their mortgage 🥰

Honest question, where do you want people who either can't get a mortgage or don't want a mortgage to live? All government ownership or housing associations?

just here to say that renting out a room in a house you DO live in is still landlordism and dissidents are both wrong & can stay mad.

Lots of landlords (myself included) live in the property and rent out a room. I get you want to be mad at “rich people” but maybe start with the corporations buying up 50% of housing units?

So true. The only group of people I hate more than landlords are farmers! I hate how they exploit poorer people's need for food And dont get me started on doctors and nurses, exploiting poor people's need for health! By the way, whatever you provide to society, I assume you provide for free, right?

Being a landlord technically gives more people the option to live in a home that they are not fully responsible for, they don’t have to have a mortgage if they can’t get one or don’t want one.
