I think the looseness can give the viewer more involvement and opportunity to feel connected and involved. Go loose to get flowing and tighten up wherever you feel you should. The art is about you. Trust yourself and step over the rest. Let the comments and opinions of others hit the floor.

Listen to your heart. There are many artists who don’t work in a loose style yet create fantastic and beautiful art.

Tight realism for viewers often seems like a giant flex since we all have cameras. Most people prefer the look of a painting that looks like paint applied with a human hand. However, different strokes for different folks is absolutely true here. Tight realism is for sure valuable but not many people do it well enough that collectors will pay the big bucks, which is what determines trends etc

I paint realistically and abstract, I am trying to paint in a loose style. The problems I see are, painting realistically can be easily created by AI also why not just take a photo. With my marine painting I combat this by painting imagined scenes that would be difficult to photograph. So my next plan is to incorporate impasto, AI can't do that, photographs can't do that.

I produce black fineliner drawings and I cannot get away from the detail which takes forever so I am looking to introduce loose drawing into my work , if you find a solution please publish 👍👍
