That’s not an unpopular opinion. What’s unpopular (and conspicuously misinformed) is implying that this is the majority of what’s happening in classrooms.

As a homeschool mom that had a child slipping through the cracks of the education system, we brought him and his siblings home. We now homeschool and the academic growth has been amazing! We don’t have to “teach to a test”, but rather build on the knowledge that they already have and continue with their curriculums.

Are you saying that adaptive testing is a better alternative?

I’ve been teaching elementary school for 19 years. The real time waster in school is the kids misbehaving. Constant talking, off task, bothering others, etc. the whole day is spent redirecting…

I agree especially with using half the time with all the “interventions and small group” than to continue differantiate instruction.

Say it louder for the people in the back! When I tell people in charge in my district that I will not just teach to the test, they are astounded! Like, what?? I want my students to be critical thinkers not just test takers! Imagine that!!
