Ok here is a thanksgiving story: when I was very young, we lived with my grandparents, in a three bedroom apartment with a group of relatives. One thanksgiving, my grandfather woke Ronnie and I up in what seemed the middle of the night. He whispered, get dressed warm, we’re going on an adventure. And off we went, onto a subway train heading into the city, full of excited happy people. We got to 34th street about 5:30am, and he bought us donuts and hot chocolate while we waited.1/2

And then the most incredible thing happened. We had never seen the parade, didn’t know what it was. Grandpa picked me up and put me on his shoulders so I had an uninterrupted view of the wonder and magic that went before us. I wanted to take Popeyes home with us, but granddad explained he couldn’t fit in the train. Instead, we went into a fancy chocolate shop and he bought each of us tiny boxes of chocolate. I’m heading into 70, and have not missed a parade yet since that day. Every year my fam

What a lovely memory. My grandfather, Gindy, would always get the Swiss Colony book in the mail and let us grandkids pick one think to order. It’s mostly chocolate and cakes and things. We’d pour over the book, circling first and second choices. Such a simple thing, but one of my favorite memories. 🩷

I’m now 87 yo and was the youngest of 7 children. I only met my grandmother once when I was five then she died. My other grandparents were already deceased. Then my parents died. Only my eldest son remembers my mother vaguely but the others never met her. Now I realise that I am one of two grandmothers remaining for my grandchildren and great grandchildren. The other grandmother is 97. I’m hoping I live longer so I can be in their lives.

I love this story. I have a great memory also that I don't remember ever telling. When I was 5 we visited my great grandparents who lived in a huge stone house overlooking the Potomac and the Washington monument beyond. My great grandfather " Pop" had purchased gifts for my brother and I in anticipation of our visit. My gift was a beautiful doll in a box, it was very fancy. My brother got a yoyo. I was crushed. I did not like dolls and I had been wanting a yoyo forever! So, he said " let's get o
