In case you don't know, section 8 is not "free". My household consists of 2 disabled adults and 1 minor that receives survivor benefits. We pay 30% of our combined income towards our rent. In our case, that's $900, the total rent for our unit is about $1500. The unit isn't worth more than $900 a month, though. All of the appliances are at least a decade old, and the windows need to be replaced.
