Tipping in the US has become an immoral business practice that thrives on the guilt of its own customers. It should not be the customers job to make sure an employee is paid properly. That is the employers job. Tipping should be to give a specific person who’s giving exceptional service. It puts the employee and customer in a bad position that solely benefits the financial side of business.

I hate that tipping is expected and obligatory. Tips should be reward for exceptional service - an extra amount above and beyond an existing living wage. They should not be necessary to ensure you make anything at all. But i always tip 25% rounded up to the nearest dollar because I don't want the employee to suffer just because I hate the system.
